Taher Jaoui (1978) is a Tunisian artist based in France, who currently works and lives in Dubai, UAE.
His work is a captivating and labor-intensive effort with the idea of continuing the legacy of the abstract expressionist movement of the 50s and 60s. Taher Jaoui’s paintings are rich assembalages of layered forms, vibrant colors, expressive gestures, and mathematical signs and formulas.
His artistic practice is influenced by African primitive art, graffiti, Glitch art, and the COBRA movement, as well as the philosophy and attitude of post-war abstract expressionism.
