Marguerite Wibaux is a New York-based French artist, working in painting, sculpture, and installation. Born in Argentina, nurtured in Peru and Italy, and currently resident of the USA, Marguerite Wibaux has predominantly experienced life as a stranger. This facet is central to her inquiries into matters of identity and belonging. Her methodology for engaging with and capturing her subjects borders on social experimentation. With her sculpture practice, she brings into the three-dimensional realm her documentation of the human condition.
Wibaux had her first solo exhibition at the French Cultural Center in Boston on the heels of a Bernard Venet show. She was an invited artist-in-residence at the French Embassy in Kingston, Jamaica in 2021. After moving to New York, Wibaux had solo exhibitions at the Yard, presented by QuietLunch, SPRING/BREAK Art Show (2021), and The Locker Room (2022 and 2023), with whom she was featured at Untitled Art Fair (2022). In parallel to her art practice, Marguerite Wibaux has curated group shows including “Immaculate Misconception” at the Locker Room and “Plasticity” at SPRING/BREAK (2022).
The latter’s interactive sculpture installation was reviewed in Cultbytes, Artnet, and Artnews,. Her work has also been featured in Ante Magazine, Create Magazine, Shades of Noir, The Jamaica Gleaner, and Art She Says. She was reviewed by art advisor Maria Brito as a “top 5 artist to discover.”
